Direct Intervention for children at immediate risk
Aiming at protecting
children at immediate risk, «The Smile of
the Child» provides services of “Direct
Intervention”.
Direct intervention is carried out by specialized Social Workers and
Psychologists of the Organization.
This action targets children at immediate risk and children victims of any kind
of violence (Physical, Sexual & Psychological Abuse, Neglect, Bullying and
Trafficking), and the goal is to protect them by ensuring their rights, always
in cooperation with the Greek competent public prosecutorial and law enforcement
authorities.
When a child is at immediate risk our primary goal is to transport it safely to
a protected environment with a Social Worker or Psychologist using the
Organization’s vehicles. The second step is to cooperate with all the competent
actors so as to find a solution for the child.
«The Smile of the Child»
directly intervenes for children at immediate risk following information -
anonymous or not- received at the National Helpline for Children SOS 1056. This
information comes from sensitized citizens, competent bodies and services (Prosecutions,
Police, NGOs and other bodies), while in some cases from children themselves
seeking help.

has been providing the service of Direct Intervention for children at immediate
risk from 2002
